IN MY AIR Giveaway

Another rad piece from the boys at IN MY AIR is this super cool, magenta mesh tank that embodies sport luxe. A fashionable twist on activewear is one of my favorite trends this season, as it allows me to reunite with my tomboy days, so naturally I’m loving their entire sport-influenced Resort collection. This mesh tank/dress is such an easy, comfortable piece to throw over a slip or pants to add an entirely new dimension to an outfit…and perhaps add some motivation to your [nonexistant] workout plan.

spring ready

LAST NIGHT draped pleated dress

LAST NIGHT draped pleated dress

Even though it’s still winter, I’m getting into that Spring cleaning state of mind already…probably because of the recent 80 degree days in SoCal that’s been tricking my mind. I’m so ready to purge at least half of my closet to Goodwill and Threadflip and take what I can get to rebuild a new, edited wardrobe.  Crossing my fingers I can undertake this major life overhaul this week. In the meanwhile, I went Spring buying for my shop and came up with this gorgeous draped dress that I’ve found to be absolutely perfect for a day-to-night situation.  It’s so easy to wear to meet friends for a bottomless mimosa brunch, go drunk shopping afterwards, get a cupcake, and then end the day of this dream life with more drinks at the cool new bar downtown.  In fact, I’m taking this awesome itinerary and making this happen, soon. Yea, dresses tend to inspire my life from time to time.

black dahlia

It’s been weeks and I’ve finally gotten my latest Jeffrey Campbells I’ve been coveting onto the blog. I was worried about the precarious reputation lucite is associated with but all worries left me when I saw how elongated my legs looked with the clear front strap. #fuckyeahlongerlegs

the western front

This Isabel Marant dress that I swooped from Barney’s is my new flavor of the week. It’s a simple shirtdress but its superb details make it the shirtdress to have. The silk/cotton blend feels amazingly soft (first thing I look for in anything), the red is wearable year round, and the hem is cut in the most flattering manner. It’s such a staple that I feel so lucky to have found and bought on impulse (a terrible habit of mine, but see, good things come out of it). I instantly thought of the beautiful union this dress would be with this vintage Calvin Klein denim dress-turned-coat that’s been crumpled in the corner of my closet for months, because it hasn’t yet found its match. Good things come to those who wait! I love love love the deep denim together with the brick red. And from there I chose the Western road.

P.S. so many of you loved my mom’s vintage skirt I wore yesterday, that I went hunting for a similar one until I came across the exact one on Etsy! So worth it.

wine and taupe

I’ve legitimately embraced Fall with the inclusion of oxblood in my wardrobe. It’s interesting to see how it-colors explode season over season - it’s all about the reinvention of the wheel aka reinventing burgundy/wine to oxblood. Oxblood sounds so much cooler, doesn’t it?  Anyway, this past weekend I  finally brushed the dust off my winter storage box and pulled out those thick knits and sweaters and pants. It was nice pretend-shopping forgotten clothes; I immediately took out this old Theory sweater that will for sure be a revolving piece in my daily outfits. Now it’s time during Thanksgiving to pack away the summer stuff, which I find kind of sad, but until next season.

Also just wanted to say a quick thank you to you all for continuously reading my blog and supporting honey & silk! Just recently hit over 1,000 followers on GFC - thank you, thank you! Wouldn’t be anywhere without ya. Have an amazing holiday everyone!!

rose-colored skies

Take me to the desert with cool sunny days, cacti gardens, and rose-colored skies.  I’m on a one-track mind with this inspiring Ladakh dress from Koshka; all I can imagine is me sitting in front of my retro motel door, sipping cactus cooler, and observing lizards. And though normally unusual, that actually sounds relaxing to me. It’s not a very conventional vacation but this dress is just screaming otherwise.

back alley gold

Working in LA has given me so much more freedom to explore more of the nooks and crannies, like this awesome random parking lot and alleyway that has amazing graffiti; there was even a person working on his own art while we were there. But it has been the coldest week of the season; yet I’m totally prepared with this durable and warm military jacket from Urban 1972 and my new Obey cap.  Well the cap was only for a bad hair day, which I’ve been having a lot lately since the air is so dry. I’ve also become really invested in finding staple pants and denim, because I honestly can’t hold up in a skirt and tights anymore. I personally love the espresso tone of these cool Kelly Wearstler jeans - it’s a great dark neutral without going with the usual black.

So I’m in LA full time now :P And I’m commuting daily..which just means I’ll hopefully move here soon *fingers crossed*.

currently lusting for…

Finally, finally, finally found the Jeffrey Campbell Soiree’s in stock and in my size. I’ve been coveting the lucite heel and clear strap for months and now it shall be mine.

Next on my hit list is this perfectly cropped, perfectly slouchy Alexander Wang turtleneck. This is the only knit I need this Fall,
I swear.
